What You Get
Why Use Twitter/X Video Downloader?
H.264 Baseline Profile at Up to 1280 × 720 Resolution
Twitter encodes uploaded videos using H.264 Baseline Profile, the most broadly compatible variant of the ITU-T H.264 / ISO/IEC 14496-10 standard. The platform caps public video at 1280 × 720 pixels (720p) with a maximum bitrate of approximately 2,048 kbps for video and 128 kbps AAC-LC for audio. We extract the highest-quality variant available from Twitter's adaptive bitrate stream, delivering the same file that Twitter's own player selects on a high-bandwidth connection.
Twitter Converts All GIFs to MP4 Using H.264, We Reverse That if Needed
Since 2014, Twitter has converted every uploaded GIF to an MP4 video using H.264 encoding because video files are 5 to 10 times smaller than equivalent GIFs at the same resolution. According to Twitter's engineering blog, this single change reduced GIF bandwidth consumption by over 80 percent. We give you the MP4 version by default, which is smaller and higher quality than the original GIF format.
Full Compatibility With the October 2023 Rebranding to X.com
Elon Musk completed the Twitter-to-X rebrand in October 2023, changing the domain from twitter.com to x.com. Both domains now resolve to the same servers and the same API endpoints. Our downloader normalizes both URL formats internally, so whether you paste a legacy twitter.com/username/status/123 link or a new x.com/username/status/123 link, the result is identical.
No Authentication Required for Public Tweets
Public tweets are accessible via Twitter's public embed API without OAuth tokens or session cookies. We never ask for your credentials, and we never store any user data beyond the duration of the download request.
Thread Video Support
Videos buried in long threads? Paste the direct tweet link and we'll find it. Each tweet in a thread has its own unique status ID.
Multiple Qualities
Pick HD for the sharpest version or SD for faster downloads and smaller files. Twitter typically stores 720p, 480p, and 360p variants.
Common Scenarios
Sharing in Group Chats
Not everyone checks Twitter. Download the video and drop it directly in your Discord, Slack, or WhatsApp group.
Video Compilations
Making a supercut or compilation? Pull clips from Twitter without the platform's compression affecting your edit.
Archiving Moments
Viral moments get deleted. Sports highlights get DMCA'd. Save them before they disappear.
Offline Access
Commuting through dead zones? Download videos at home and watch them on the train.
Research and Journalism
Documenting events or investigating? Download videos as evidence before accounts get suspended.
Presentations
Need to show a tweet's video in a presentation? Download it so you're not relying on wifi that might fail.
How It Works
Find the Tweet
Scroll Twitter until you hit a video you want. Click on the tweet to open it, or tap the share icon if you're on mobile.
Copy the Link
On desktop, grab the URL from your browser. On mobile, hit Share → Copy Link. The link should have /status/ in it.
Paste and Load
Drop the link here. We'll show you the video thumbnail and the tweet text so you know you've got the right one.
Choose Quality and Download
Pick HD or SD. If the original tweet was a GIF, you can download that format too. File saves to your device.
Useful Tips
Get the Right Link
The URL needs /status/ in it. Profile pages or search results won't work - you need the direct tweet link.
Protected Accounts
If you see a lock icon on the account, their content is private. We can't access those tweets.
HD vs SD Trade-off
HD looks better but files are 2-3x larger. If you're just sharing casually, SD is usually fine.
Download Before It's Gone
Twitter videos get deleted constantly - takedowns, account suspensions, user regret. If you want it, grab it now.
