About Robotron: 2084

Robotron: 2084 is a legendary arcade game created by Eugene Jarvis and released by Williams Electronics in 1982. Often considered one of the greatest video games ever made, it pioneered the twin-stick shooter genre with its revolutionary dual-joystick control scheme.

In the year 2084, the Robotrons have decided that the human race is inefficient and must be destroyed. You are the last hope of the human race, fighting through endless waves of robots while rescuing the last surviving human family.

This browser version captures the intense, chaotic gameplay of the original with multiple enemy types, human rescues, and the constant need to move and shoot simultaneously.

How to Play Robotron

Move Constantly

Use WASD to move. Never stop moving - standing still means death!

Shoot in All Directions

Use IJKL to fire in 8 directions. You can move and shoot independently!

Rescue Humans

Touch the colored human figures to rescue them. Each rescue gives bonus points!

Survive the Waves

Destroy all killable enemies to advance. Hulks are invincible - avoid them!

Use WASD or Arrow keys to move. Use IJKL keys to shoot in 8 directions: I=up, K=down, J=left, L=right, and combinations for diagonals. Destroy all robots and rescue humans!
Grunts (red squares) chase you. Hulks (green) are indestructible but slow. Brains (pink) can turn humans into enemies. Enforcers (yellow triangles) shoot at you!
Touch humans to rescue them for points. Each rescue increases your bonus multiplier up to 5000 points! Watch out - Brains can turn humans into Progs (enemies).
Purple diamond shapes are electrodes. Touch them and you die! You can shoot them for 25 points to clear paths through the level.
Destroy all killable enemies (not Hulks - they're invincible). Once all Grunts, Brains, and Enforcers are destroyed, you advance to the next wave.
Hulks (big green squares) are indestructible! Your bullets bounce off them. You must avoid them - they'll keep chasing you throughout the wave.
Yes! Robotron is completely free to play in your browser with no downloads required.
Yes! Touch the left side of the screen to move (drag in any direction). Touch the right side to shoot in that direction.
Keep moving constantly! Clear paths by shooting electrodes. Rescue humans early before Brains get them. Save Hulks for last - focus on shootable enemies first.
